70 Years of War, No to NATO, Bases Out!

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the creation of NATO, a military organization that was created in the name of “peace” in 1949, but was really created to fight against communism and against the peoples who resist domination and submission to the emerging power of the Second World War: the USA, which runs this criminal organization that has not ceased to provoke wars openly or covertly.

That is why we  gathered at the Teatro del Barrio to present the campaign of the FAI “70 years of war. Not NATO, bases out”, to listen, debate and re-examine and pronounce ourselves against the imperialist war that intends to devastate our planet.

We have listened to several speeches, from the perspective of “what to do” as citizens of a country integrated in this criminal organization that has sowed death and destruction in the name of “western democracy. A country integrated in NATO and where the military bases of the USA are at their ease. A country where the majority of the population does not even know that it is part of NATO’s missile defence shield, that is to say of a country that is politically and militarily subjugated by the United States.

We have analyzed the reasons and motives of the wars – Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Palestine and the one that is now taking place against Venezuela. And above all, we analyze how these wars clearly point to the war against Russia, China, India and the powerful Eurasian bloc.

No doubt in the debate there are those who consider that NATO is “retreating” and those who consider that this “retreat or crisis” is too slow and continues to wreak havoc against which it is necessary to fight.

We share – as Lenin and Gramsci put it – that the system will not fall alone, but must be defeated. And that depends on our political and human will.

Report: Imperialism and immigration

On March 26, the FAI Africa Working Group presented the event “Imperialism and Immigration. Destruction and plundering of Africa” to talk about immigration.

Rosa Moro presented the act explaining the need to include imperialism in the debates and analysis of immigration, because it is at the root of the causes that cause African youth to leave their countries for Europe.

Then comrade Hassan Mfouapon spoke of the real domination that African societies have endured for centuries. All the disadvantages inherited from slavery, from colonisation, from decolonisation! He denounced the colonial currency used in 14 African countries which is controlled by France, and which has no value anywhere in the world, a brutal form of economic domination which every time an African leader wanted to put an end to it, he was overthrown and killed. He also spoke of something much worse, cultural domination, mental colonisation, how after centuries of domination, not only in general Europeans conceive Africans as inferior, but Africans themselves have also assimilated a perception of inferiority that is one of the greatest problems to be solved.

At the end of Hassan’s speech, Serigne Mbaye can be heard explaining how in Africa Europeans and European and American companies do things that would be unthinkable here. Trawling is practiced and others (he knows well because he was a fisherman in Senegal) that are prohibited here to protect the seas, large NGOs fight to defend the environment of the Canary Islands by preventing the construction of wells to extract oil, but the same is done throughout Africa and no one is immutable. The wells that are not going to be built in the Canary Islands will be put in Senegal, in their own village, and nobody will go to fight for their environment. It denounces the falsity of the story they have told us. The dead in the sea and the desert, the life of some is worth more than that of others. Europe’s violence against African peoples is not sufficiently widespread in Europe, Europeans are unaware of it, although their economic progress is due to it. The European military are there to protect their economic interests, but not the Africans.

Then Philippe Mbou intervenes, or as he prefers to be known, PhilM6, and tells how his younger brothers contacted him to come to Europe as he did, and how, out of love for them, he told them that he would not help them so that they would not make the mistake he made. He did not want for his loved ones what he and so many others have suffered, death, the way and, in the best of cases, to come alive and lose 14 years of your youth, because in Europe life is not as young Africans believe when they leave their homes.

Finally, Malick Gueye, intervened to denounce the racism that Africans face every day in Spain and Europe, especially from the collective he is in, the mantero union in Madrid.

Atilio Borón presents his new book at UCM

Atilio Borón presented his new book “El hechicero de la tribu. Vargas Llosa and Liberalism in Latin America”. How did Mario Vargas Llosa become a champion of capitalist ideology and respond today to traditional structures and constituted interests? These and other complex questions are answered by the new bibliographic work of the Argentine political scientist and sociologist, Atilio Boron, who presented this book on Monday 8 April 2019 at the Faculty of Political Science of the Complutense University of Madrid.

The Imperialist Offensive in Latin America

Within the Campaign “Sovereign Venezuela, Bolivarian Venezuela. Hands off Venezuela”, the Internationalist Anti-imperialist Front held an event in collaboration with the Complutense University of Madrid at the School of Labor Relations on the theme “The Imperialist Offensive in Latin America”.

On the occasion of the stay in Spain of Atilio Borón, professor of Political Science at the University of Buenos Aires and expert in geopolitics in Latin America, the Internationalist Anti-imperialist Front had invited him to give a lecture on the subject.

In his presentation, Professor Borón described all the indicators that show the deep decadence in which the United States finds itself as a hegemonic power and how it sees the need to resort to all kinds of procedures to try to continue imposing its will in what it considers its backyard, with the collaboration of the most corrupt and servile dependent bourgeoisies. And how China’s commercial penetration is unstoppable and is creating deep contradictions among local oligarchies that presage the ruin of expectations of a return to the neoliberal paradigm, which explains the agonizing pressure it is imposing on Venezuela as the main representative of people’s resistance against attempts to plunder and exploit them.

The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. Mario Isea, who thanked Professor Borón for his tireless defense of Latin American sovereignty and integration as a way of resisting the attacks of the empire which, not being in clear decline, is less dangerous. He explained the recent attempts to provoke revolts in Venezuela from the United States, through criminal sabotage of the electricity grid and water supply, described by many observers as a war crime. But the attempt has failed, thanks to the revolutionary spirit and solidarity of the Venezuelans, who knew how to clothe their legitimate President and organize themselves to overcome the difficulties generated with exemplary discipline and a sense of solidarity.

The table was completed by our comrades Joe Tenorio, who presented the speaker, Miguel León, who explained the meaning and necessity of the act, and Ángeles Diez, who closed the act with an appeal for internationalist solidarity, to unite forces in defence of sovereignty, independence and peace, especially in the open front by the main Spanish political, economic and media actors who have bowed to the imperialist strategy without considering its human costs and with absolute disregard for the real will and true interests of the Spanish people.

Palestine Land Day in Murcia
