Venezuelan opposition in Madrid against freedom of expression
The Ateneo de Madrid has organized the event “The educational system in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” ont Friday, September 13.
The Venezuelan extreme right and the media that promote and protect it, have launched a campaign to prevent the normal development of this act.
There is a long history of harassment, threats, insults and even aggression to try to prevent the celebration of any activity in which another version of what is happening in Venezuela that is different from the slogan launched by the United States and seconded by its allies that there is a dictatorship in Venezuela.
These actions have habitually been tolerated by the forces of public order, responsible for the protection of all acts carried out under the protection of our laws.
This behavior on the part of the Spanish authorities is consistent with the protection provided by the Spanish Embassy in Caracas to the Venezuelan criminal Leopoldo López since May 1 of this year.
The responsibility in all this of governments of different political signs shows that there is a state policy of harassment and overthrow of the legitimate Venezuelan government, acting according to the instructions of the U.S. government, a policy that is carried out in violation of both national laws and international law.
Presentation of the film “La planta insolente” (The insolent plant)
As part of the campaign “Sovereign Venezuela, Bolivarian Venezuela”, the Anti-imperialist Internationalist Front presented the film “The insolent plant” on Monday, September 16, in the Teatro del Barrio.
With a script by Luis Britto, the film narrates how, in 1902, during the foreign invasion, the president of Venezuela, Cipriano Castro, alerted the people that the insolent plant from abroad had desecrated the country’s soil.
For an internationalist and ungovernable Madrid
Since its creation, the Madrid Committee of the Anti-imperialist Internationalist Front has functioned as one of the permanent collectives of La Ingobernable. Like the rest of the collectives, it has contributed to keeping the social centre clean and the cafeteria up and running, and is committed to defending this communal lung in the heart of Madrid.
After the change of majorities in the Madrid City Council, many may believe that a good opportunity to evict La Ingobernable is opening up. Faced with this risk, the FAI joins the call to defend this common urban that has just over two years of life and it seems that it has always been there. It must be shown that The Ungovernable is unlucky because, even if you try, the authoritarian and servile Madrid can not get rid of the rebellious and resilient Madrid.
The best way to do this is to inhabit a social centre on a daily basis, which is already everything to help keep it alive. We therefore want to take advantage of this Collective Fair to publicize our personality and our activities with a photographic exhibition on the Global Campaign for the Return to Palestine and other promotional materials on our international campaigns and support for anti-imperialist struggles.
