On 15th of May 2018, FAI organised a protest to commemorate Palestinian resistance, to defend the right to return of all Palestinian refugees, as well as to claim Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. Hundreds have answered the call and joined the protest in front of the Ministry of External Affairs, which then continued towards Puerta del Sol, a square in the heart of Madrid.
As part of the protest, theatric staging depicting occupation of Palestine was performed, followed by a communiqué denouncing the imperialist war in the Middle East, calling for the common struggle with Palestinian brothers and sisters, demanding from the Spanish state to withdraw it’s embassy and close the embassy of Israel in Madrid, and to increase the boycott of the zionist entity.
Having passed through the process of forming itself as an organisation, the Anti-Imperialist Internationalist Front (FAI by it’s initials in Spanish) has celebrated an act of presentation in Madrid to inform the public of it’s objectives and goals.
Representatives of few embassies also attended the act, such as: Syria, Cuba, Venezuela and the consul of Burkina Faso. Syrian representative stressed the importance of the formation of such organisation and thanked for the support to the people of Syria in it’s struggle against the imperialism.
FAI expressed it’s support for the struggle of the people of Palestine and Syria, for the Bolivarian Revolution, and denounced the impunity of the imperialism while committing crimes against the humanity.
At the same act, special attention was dedicated to Patrice Lumumba and the struggle of Congolese people for independence. The role of Franco’s Spain in Lumumba’s death and the loss of sovereignty of Congo was stressed.
On May 28th and 29th 2018, tens of protesters manifested themselves in Murcia to denounce the 70 years of Israeli occupation of Palestine, which encircled Gaza with a wall, killed and banished hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
On April 28th and 29th, International Conferences on Slavery was celebrated in Madrid under FAI’s organisation. Over 100 people attended, however due to the visa restrictions a number of people could not join.
The final manifest declares: International Conference in Madrid agrees to implement an international movement against all forms of slavery by constituting a Commission for Coordination and Common Labour. The role of FAI is yet to be determined.
The discussion informed the attendees about the latest developments on the Korean Peninsula in relation to the initiatives of North-South reconciliation. Explanation of the unjustly imposed embargo followed, as well as of the continuous military provocations.
