To the Presidency of the Government of Spain
Mr. President:
The news has reached us that a Spanish frigate is taking part in the manoeuvres currently being carried out by the US Navy in waters close to Venezuela.
Its lack of political autonomy and subordination to the United States in its ultimatum to the legitimate president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, once again involve Spain in a war against a people that does not renounce its sovereignty and makes its government a necessary accomplice to a new genocide, such as the one we are already contributing to in Iraq.
On the other hand, you are well aware that the sending of troops and direct participation in a war of aggression must have the approval of the Spanish Parliament. That fleet in which we are integrated forms part of the military aggression plans repeatedly announced by the United States government. We therefore hope that the information received is false and that, in addition to the act of violation of all international law which you have already committed with your ultimatum, you are now also carrying out illegal actions based on consideration of Spanish legislation itself.
We ask you to withdraw your support for the economic and political aggression against Venezuela, ceasing to follow the dictates of the United States. Instead, we urge you to strengthen ties with that sovereign people and its legitimate president, Nicolas Maduro.
Mr. President, have the courage not to subordinate yourself to U.S. interests and defend PEACE.
